I was trying out more processes - I tried out some potato relief printing to see if I could get some interesting motifs from it which was...strange! I think if I had used printing ink, or acrylic with printing medium in it would have been a lot more even and a lot less 'gloopy' to print with - but I actually kind of like some of the textures that have come out on the motifs.
The bottom picture was finger painting, with pen over the top! I think it actually looks pretty cute! the textured shapes look quite nice, it'd be good to hone it more.
Another process i've been trying out is Heat transfer printing. The process is dead simple - you can buy sheets of tissue paper coated in disperse ink, which can only be transferred with the heat on a heat press. You cut the desired shapes and effects out, sandwich it between whatever your desired print material it is - slap in in the heat press for a minute or so and then you have your own, perfectly bright and waterproof print!
The only downside to disperse printing is that the paper can only be realistically printed with once before it loses it's vibrancy. You can get around this by making paper stencils for your disperse shapes, so you can keep the process consistent, but that does make it more time consuming.
That been said - with the amount of stress i've had with screen printing before, disperse printing pretty much has the same duration for a print run, and theres less risk of you messing up your screen or print run half way through with something stupid or messy like ink.
